How to vary registration conditions
If you have conditions, limitations or restrictions on your registration, you can complete a variation form asking to change those conditions. For example, you can ask to:
- extend specific registration to 36 months (in total)
- change your workplace and/or supervisor
- change dates to complete tasks in your conditions.
The Board must approve your requested change. You must not start practising at a new workplace or be supervised by a new principal supervisor until the Board agrees.
The application form includes a variation processing fee. Application dates are below: fast-track processing fees are payable for late or expedited applications. More fee information: Fee schedule
Step 1 - Prepare documents
Workplace letter: to change or add a workplace to your conditions, you must upload a signed letter on business letterhead from your employer. It must be addressed to the Board and include:
- the title of your position, period of employment and proposed start date
- the hours you will be working and details of your proposed duties
- if you are registered under s7(1)(c) of the VPA to train for qualifying AVE or ECFVG exams, information about how your employer will help you train for clinical exams
- if you are registered under s7(1)(d) of the VPA ("identified need"), information that shows there is an identified need for veterinary services which you can meet. The employer should include the information listed on pages 4 and 5 of the Board's policy: Identified need - Specific registration under 7(1)(d) of the Veterinary Practice Act 1997.
Supervisor letter: to change or add a principal supervisor, you must upload a supervision form signed by your principal supervisor. Secondary supervisors who may supervise you when the principal supervisor is away should also sign the form. All supervisors must meet the criteria in the Board's Policy: Supervision of veterinary practitioners. Your proposed supervisors must read and understand this policy.
