October 2009 - Regional meetings
The Board has recently conducted a number of regional seminars in rural locations throughout Victoria.  Additional seminars will be held in early 2010.  The dates are as follows:

Geelong -  10 February 2010 venue to be confirmed
Glen Waverley - Novotel Hotel 17 February 2010

September 2009 - New Standards for Microchipping of Horse
The Domestic Animals Regulations 2005, previously named the Domestic (Feral and Nuisance) Animals Regulations 2005, have been amended to provide standards for the microchipping of horses. The introduction of these new Regulations facilitates the amendments made in 2007 to the Domestic (Feral and Nuisance) Animals Act 1994 regarding standards for the microchipping of horses. July 2009 - Guidelines Updated

The Guidelines have undergone annual review. For some, minor amendments have been made, Guideline 6 has been re-written, a new Guideline 18 issued - Standards of Biosecurity for Property Visits and a statement of Professional Conduct included. The Guidelines may also be accessed on the website one by one, or as a complete set.

July 2009 -  National Recognition of Veterinary Registration (NRVR)
The Primary Industries Legislation amendment Bill 2008, which includes the amendments to the Veterinary Practice Act 1997 to provide for NRVR has been passed by the Victorian Parliament with an effective commencement date of 31/12/2010.  This means that for practical purposes, NRVR will commence in the 2011 registration year in Victoria.
