2020-2021 registration and service fees

The fee schedule below applies to the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.

This is the registration fee for:
  • all practitioners renewing their existing registration, except for non-practising registrants
  • new applicants for general registration (except new graduates), specific registration, and specialist endorsements
  • registrants who used to be registered in Victoria and want to reinstate their registration. 
New applicants also pay service fees to have their applications processed.
New graduate registration fee $195.00 This is the registration fee for new graduates:
  • who have been awarded their degree during the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021, and
  • who have never registered with another registration or licensing authority.
New graduates also pay service fees to have their applications processed.
Non-practising registration fee $105.00 This is the registration fee for new or renewing non-practising registrants.
Specialist endorsement $260.00 This fee is payable each year per specialist endorsement.
The fee is payable in addition to general registration fees.
New applicants for specialist endorsement also pay an application service fee.

 

Application fees and other registration service fees 2020-2021

Application fee $155.00 This service fee is to be paid in addition to registration fees by new applicants for:
  • general registration, including:
    • new graduates
    • applicants re-registering after time spent practising in another State or country or working in another profession, and
    • non-practising registrants who want to start practising again, i.e. convert their non-practising registration to general registration
    • applications to vary any conditions imposed on general registration
  • specific registration (including applications to vary specific registration), and
  • specialist endorsement.
The fee is not paid when a current registrant changes from general to non-practising registration.
Complex assessment fee $105.00 This service fee is for applications that need extra consideration by the Board:
  • All applicants for specific registration pay this fee.
  • Applicants re-registering after a long time not practising may be asked to pay this fee.
  • If other applications require extra consideration, the Board will advise if this fee is payable.
If payable, this fee is to be paid in addition to an application fee and registration fees.
Fast track fee $155.00 This service fee is to be paid by an applicant:
  • if they wish their application to be considered at the next Board meeting but have missed the cut-off date for that meeting, or
  • if they wish to be registered before the date of the Board meeting when their application would usually be considered.
Some applications may not be able to be fast-tracked, e.g. applications for specialist endorsement, specific registration, or general registration where recency of practice is an issue. The Board will advise if an application cannot be fast-tracked.
This fee is to be paid in addition to registration fees, the standard application fee and, if applicable, the complex assessment fee.
Late renewal fee $195.00 for general registration
$55.00 for non-practising registration
This service fee is to be paid if a current registrant renews their registration between 1 July 2020 and 31 July 2021, i.e. they are late renewing their registration. The fee is to be paid in addition to registration fees.
Replacement registration certificate  $75 This service fee is for reissue of a registration certificate.

Register of Veterinary Practitioners

  • Multiple extracts - $515
  • Single extract - $55
These fees are to be paid if a person wants to obtain a copy of or an extract from the Register of Veterinary Practitioners (section 16 Veterinary Practice Act 1997).

Summary information for 2020-2021 applicants

All new applicants pay application service fees plus registration fees, for example:
  • New graduates applying for general registration pay a total of $350 consisting of a $155 application fee + $195 registration fee
  • Other applicants for general registration (including re-registration) pay $545 consisting of a $155 application fee + $390 registration fee (fees for the period 1 December 2020 to 30 June 2021 are $350 consisting of the $155 application fee plus a pro-rata registration fee of $195)
  • Applicants for specific registration pay $650 consisting of a $155 application fee + $105 complex assessment fee + $390 registration fee
  • Applicants for specialist endorsement pay $415 consisting of a $155 application fee + $260 specialist endorsement fee. NOTE specialists also pay their general registration fee ($390 per year) and if their specialist qualifications need to be assessed by the AVBC, they will also pay a separate application fee to the AVBC.
